Master of Arts in Finance (МАF) / Master of Science in Finance (MSF)

The aim of the program is to prepare a new generation of specialists who will have background and applied knowledge in finance and economics and who will also have business and communication skills necessary for a successful career in finance and consulting.
 
About

Master of Arts in Finance (MAF) is an applied Master’s program. At the end of the program students receive a state-recognized master’s degree diploma.

Master of Science in Finance (MSF) is an intensive retraining program (one year). At the end of the program students receive a retraining diploma.

Format

Full-time study 

2 years at Master of Arts in Finance (MAF)

10 study modules, 2 months each

One year at Master of Science in Finance (MSF)

5 study modules, 2 months each

The first four modules have a mandatory course in finance or economics and a Business English course.

For whom

Master of Arts in Finance (MAF) is for graduates who want to obtain a master’s degree in finance (students must have a college diploma in order to enter NES)

Master of Science in Finance (MSF) is for graduates and senior students without a college diploma who want to get a job after this one-year program.

Price

560 000 roubles a year

The payment is made in five equal parts before the beginning of every module. If necessary, more flexible payment schemes can be considered. The grants that cover 13%  ̶  100 % of studies can be provided based on entrance tests. It is also possible to take an education loan in Sberbank, Pochta Bank or in Russkiy standart bank.

 

Program content 

Emphasis on finance

60 % of courses are dedicated to finance. 30 % of courses are dedicated to applied macroeconomics and microeconomics, econometrics and machine learning for financiers. 10 % of courses are mandatory and elective English courses.

A wide range of courses

The mandatory courses in finance and economics are mainly held within the first four modules of the first year. All modules starting from the second module include elective courses in finance. Based on such elective courses students choose their specialty.

The second year at Master of Arts in Finance (MAF) of study includes additional elective courses and regular applied seminars. It is also the year when students write their term papers and master’s theses.

Business English

The English language courses are held during the whole year. They are aimed at developing communication and writing skills.

Additional events

Soft skills and career development trainings, public lectures, round tables, company presentations, meetings with alumni and much more.

NES has also a case club and a mentoring program.

Curriculum content

Intensive basic and specialized courses in economics and finance:

  • Basic courses in economics (microeconomics, macroeconomics, theory of probability and mathematical statistics, econometrics).
  • Elective courses in economics and finance

1st – 4th modules: basic program courses in economics and finance

2nd ‒ 5th modules: elective courses in economics/finance and in data analysis

A wide range of elective courses (students can choose more elective courses as in the second year of study there are few mandatory courses in comparison with the first year).

Possibility to combine studies with the professional internship.

Term paper

Master’s thesis

6th ‒ 10th modules: the rest of the mandatory courses and elective courses in economics, finance and regular applied seminars.

Research work: term papers and master’s theses.

The education programs comply with the best economics and finance programs of foreign universities. Their high level is ensured by the NES International committee of advisors that comprises experts from the London school of economics, Harvard university, Yale, Princeton and from other leading universities. MAF and MSF programs have been accredited by ACCA till 31.12.2023
